Agenda

18:00 – Doors open. Pizza and drinks are served

19:00 – Effective refactoring with codemods. \ Edd Yerburgh

Codemods make refactoring fun. This talk will cover what codemods are, and how to use them to transform JavaScript code with jscodeshift.

19:45 – The Database Deficit: How Full-Stack Developers’ Blind Spot Is Harming Agile Teams \ Steven Hopkinson

‘Full-stack’ developers always have a weakest layer in the stack, and for most that layer is the database. When development teams are formed entirely of full-stack developers, that weakness compounds to create significant issues for agile teams – particularly in implementing continuous deployment and continuous integration pipelines.

This talk charts the rise of the full-stack developer and the decline of database skills, outlines the negative impact for agile teams, and outlines the core database skills and tools required in an agile team, as well as solutions to addressing an existing database deficit that your team may have.
